Posey Hibiscus Death Cafe

Life includes death, let's discuss!

This is not a tantric offering. Though, I initially wanted it to be kula, coffee, and a fun satsang regarding the seemingly dual nature of reality (and beyond - our deathless state), Death Cafes apparently have a code. And it's a beautiful one.

First of all, Death Cafes are a movement with rules or an official code of conduct. In the spirit of the Death Cafe movement, this will not seek to sway people into a belief system. There are other rules as well. They must not promote a product or service explicitly. They must be run not-for-profit. They are open to all discussions around Death. They should be held and run in a manner where they are all-inclusive. For more information, visit https://deathcafe.com/how/

Posey Hibiscus Death Cafe aims to be a roaming event serving the Southern Nicoya Peninsula (mostly Delicias, Montezuma, Cabuya, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, and Playa Hermosa areas).

It's a casual gathering for all those who feel called to explore this topic within the safe container of coffee (or tea) house vibes. Can we say we are truly living if we don't acknowledge the full package of Life and the one thing that is inevitable?

Gathering in a casual and sweet atmosphere will help normalize these conversations within our local culture. Thus we hope they serve to prepare us for this aspect of Life which affects every single one of us (in the various ways Death does).

Come with an open heart and embrace a topic so often shied away from. There are many different angles these conversations around Death can take, such as:

  • Personal loss
  • Dealing with Grief (though these are not counseling sessions)
  • Contemplate what our spiritual perspective (if any) is around death
  • How to materialistically prepare
  • Desires of ceremony, legacy, and final resting
  • Dreams of transition

Let's talk about it all!

About "Day out of Time"

From Crystallinks.com

The Day out of time is the culmination of the 13 Moon Calendar year originated from the Mayan science of time. On July 25th, Sirius rises with the sun. This day is observed as a day free of time in the 13 Moon Calendar. It is a day of reverence and cultural appreciation for the concept 'Time is Art.

From LawofTime.org (who have popularized this day)

The Day Out of Time is the day to celebrate time is art. And since art is the basis of constructive peace, this day is also celebrated as International Peace through Culture Day.

Peace through culture is a fundamental premise of the 13 moon/28-day calendar. When you celebrate time is art you are promoting peace through culture.

If you go to most any Day Out of Time celebration you will see the banner of peace. The symbol on that banner signifies the unity of art, science and spirituality.

Since 1935, this banner has been internationally recognized as an instrument of peace – peace through culture.

As the saying has it, "Where there is peace there is culture, where there is culture there is peace." This day is also marked by ceremonies of universal forgiveness; it's a way of starting the New Year off on a clean, compassionate footing.

The Thirteen Moon New Year's day occurs on July 26 (Magnetic Moon 1). Why is that? This date was originally correlated to the conjunction of the sun with Sirius rising. The 13-moon calendar is not just a solar-lunar orbital measure, but is coded to galactic timing cycles, most notably the Sirius cycle. Through the 13-moon calendar, human consciousness can enter into galactic consciousness.

Give the human a harmonious standard of measure and then a harmonious human will walk a harmonious mile.

Harmony – that's what the day of time is all about!

From MeetKathyWilliams.com

July 25th, is considered The Day Out Of Time. It's the final day of the Mayan Calendar... the eve of the Mayan New Year dawns on July 26th.
The Day Out of Time is considered a day of sacred reflection and celebration.
It signifies the closing of the 13 Moon Calendar, a 13×28 day period of time (364 days). That means this is an extra day!! Having this "extra day" re-aligns the 13 Moons Calendar to the Solar year -365 days- and gifts us with an opportunity to realign our own energies.

We can pretend this day is a magical, otherworldly one - or that it doesn't count ;)
According to the Mayan Calendar, July 25 marks an end, and July 26 establishing a beginning. Hence, these are 2 sacred days.

July 25th opens the ‘Day Out Of Time’ portal where all and nothing exists simultaneously. (In truth, this is always the case, but here is a day dedicated to that awareness.)

This day marks the end of a calendar cycle for the Mayans, so it is a day full of ceremony and reverence, purification and a time to extend forgiveness to all humanity.
